There is no limit to the type of decorations you can have for your wedding.
Many brides release balloons over the dance floor. Some use a variety of pastel colored balloons or all white balloons with satin ribbons tied to them. Some brides choose to have streamers. Candles have also been used.
One good idea is to light long walkways or hallways with votive candles. You might also put votive candles around the pool, patio, porch or other outside area. You could also dim the light and use candles as the table centerpieces at your reception.
Another idea is to decorate outdoor railings with greenery and Christmas lights. You could also rent trees and decorate them with Christmas lights.
Ways To Decorate with Balloons
Balloon designers have developed a number of ways to use balloons at your wedding reception - - and new variations arise over time. They include...
Balloon Sculptures
Creating balloon sculptures is an art from that develops with practice and is perfected over time. Construction usually involves many balloons connected with clear fishing line or similar twine. The balloon artist uses them like building blocks to create shapes and objects. Among the most popular types of balloon sculptures for weddings are Tunnels of Love, which can turn simple walkways into heart shape tunnels for a grand entrance at the reception or for a sneaky departure to your honeymoon suite! Other popular sculptures include Love Swans, balloon trees and interlocking hearts.
Balloon Drops
Imagine your reception ballroom filled with laughter, conversation and dozen of guests. Suspended high above this joyous crowd is a surprise just waiting to happen: several 36" inch balloons, stuffed with fifty 4" inch balloons and flameproof confetti. The balloons are rigged to safely pop on cue, by remote control detonation sending soft, confetti cannonballs and tiny balloons floating down on the crowd. You can add some neat extras to your balloon drop like flowers, confetti and just about anything light enough to safely float down. Accessorize your balloon sculptures with corrugated print paper, shiny gossamer fabric and floral arrangements.
Glow-In-The-Dark Balloon Drop
This unique idea is most effective for evening receptions because it involves inserting small GLO-Sticks or glow-in-the-dark party favors into light-colored or opaque balloons prior to inflating them with helium.
"First Dance" Balloon Drop
Start this sentimental journey by filling a 36" inch balloon with 6" inch heart-shaped balloons. Attach the balloon to the ceiling, centered over the dance floor. Next, find a long, lightweight pole and attach a sturdy stickpin to one end. Decorate the pole lavishly with glitter, gold or silver spray paint and gems. Let the father of the bride do the popping. If he's not available, choose someone else from the family to do the honors. The new couple will be showered with tiny hearts, making for a great photo opportunity. Safety Note: Make sure the stickpin pole is long enough to reach the balloon drop bag without needing a ladder.
Keepsake Balloon Drop
Use a beautiful heart shape net for your wedding reception balloon drop. Fill the drop with 11", 9" and 5" balloons. Create small parchment paper scrolls commemorating the joyous event, with the bride and groom's names and the wedding date written with calligraphy pens. Roll and tie each individual scroll with satin ribbon. Put these keepsakes scrolls in with the balloons in the drop net so they float down on the crowd together.
